Manali in the Indian Himalayas is a jewel on the forehead of India and this hill queen has a number of interesting sites and the Arjuna Gufa is one of them. Located on the left bank of the river Beas, the Arjuna Gufa or the Cave of Arjuna is 5 Kilometres away from the town of Manali. The nearest village to the Arjuna Gufa is the village of Prini and it is a perfect hilly village with all its charm.

The Arjuna Gufa is one of the most interesting tourist spots in the whole of Manali. Whether one belief in the legend or not the natural beauty of the cave is appealing to all and it does give a unique feeling.

The Arjuna Gufa is linked to the legend of Mahabharata. There is a prevalent belief that it is in these caves near the village of Prini that Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers, performed his penance and meditated as a result of which he succeeded in acquiring the Pashupata Ashtra or the weapon from the Hindu Lord Indra. It is because of this belief that the Arjuna Gufa or the Cave of Arjuna got its name. At approximately 2 kms. – A visible lake called Kunt Bhayo lake and a Kunti Mata Temple can be located.

How to Reach Arjuna Gufa:

Once you have reached Manali, You can hire Private taxi to visit all places around Manali.Just 5 kilometres away from Manali, the cave stands near Prini village, on the banks of the Beas. According to a popular belief Arjuna practiced penance and mediated here to gain the Pashupata Ashtra or weapon from Lord Indra.

Climate – The temperature remains pleasant here in the summer months and can dip below freezing point in winter. At any time of the year, you are advised to carry at least light woolens. The sun could be harsh in afternoons, so bring along your sunshades and a sunscreen lotion.
Best Time to Visit – November, December, January, February, March, April Months can be avoided to visit this place.
